giving at maple grove covenant

  • Financial stewardship is integral to Christian discipleship. We serve a generous God who also calls us to be generous. The most basic biblical principle for giving is the tithe—giving the first 10% of our income back to God. When we give, we demonstrate our willingness to trust God with our finances, we help provide the resources which the church needs to do ministry, we invite God’s blessing on ourselves and others, and we honor God as the ultimate owner of all things and the provider of all we have.

  • If you're wondering how funds are used, here's a quick overview. These six areas encompass all our ministry activities and reflect not only direct program expenses but also staff time. building use, and other expenses typically going toward them. The percentages are approximate, but they still give a good sense of where the dollars go. Your generosity puts the good news of the gospel into action as God uses us to Go, Love, and Live as disciples of Jesus.

    • Worship (25% of budget)  We take worship seriously. Each week we seek to offer the opportunity to experience God's presence through music, preaching, prayer, and other elements. After worship, don't be surprised if people linger over coffee and conversation. MGCC people love to connect with each other.
    • Local Outreach (7% of budget) We are growing our local outreach through partnerships with CROSS Services, service opportunities at Feed My Starving Children, community service events, and connections with organizations like the Maple Grove Chamber of Commerce—with more to come.
    • Global Missions (15% of budget) Anyone who follows Jesus does so because someone brought the gospel to people who hadn't heard it. We carry on that global engagement by looking beyond our own congregation and community and supporting what God is doing elsewhere in our nation and world.
    • Adult Ministries (9% of budget) Spiritual growth is a life-long pursuit—even seasoned adults need opportunities to become more like Jesus. We strive to support adults at Maple Grove Covenant through Sunday Life Hour, Men's and Women's Ministries, with an eye toward a future revitalized small group ministry.
    • Youth Ministry (18% of budget) The teenage years are critical for a solid foundation for life in general and the Christian life specifically, but the challenges facing students increase constantly and rapidly. Therefore, we offer Wednesday Youth Group, Confirmation, and other occasional events—with more to come.
    • Children's Ministry (26% of budget) We love kids and families, and we want them to find joy in taking each new step in following Jesus themselves. We invite kids up through fifth grade to join us for opportunities on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and for other events throughout the year.
  • There is no one “right” way to give, and some methods work better for some people than others. But here are the options we have for you to support MGCC either through regular giving or special gifts.

    • Online Giving is the safest, most efficient, and increasingly most common way to give. You can give electronically by following this link or by using our church app.
    • Through the Mail. If you prefer to use paper checks, we are glad to receive those as well. You can mail them to the church using our mailing address on our contact page.
    • In Person. We still have an offering box in the Sanctuary where you can deposit your tithe or other gift on Sunday morning.
  • God says a lot about giving and generosity in the Bible. There are many ways people give, but perhaps the most basic principle of giving is the tithe—giving the first 10% of income to the Lord. The tithe isn’t the biblical “ceiling” for generosity, but it is a significant starting point. Here are ten reasons people have identified to tithe—or to even give more than a tithe if they’re able:

    • To acknowledge God’s ownership (I Chronicles 29:10-18).
    • To build our trust in God (I Timothy 6:17-19).
    • To help create opportunities for ministry (II Corinthians 9:6-15).
    • To demonstrate God’s wisdom about finances (Acts 20:35).
    • To support those who serve (I Timothy 5:18).
    • To foster spiritual growth (I Timothy 6:6-10).
    • To honor God (Proverbs 3:9).
    • To respect our own ability (Deuteronomy 16:16b-17).
    • To invite God’s blessing (Malachi 3:6-12).
    • To join God’s work (Philippians 4:10-19).
